Harrogate Town 0-1 Fleetwood Town

BY

Fleetwood Town increased their lead at the top of the Blue Square North with victory at bottom-placed Harrogate Town. Second half substitute Gareth Seddon broke the dead lock on 70 minutes, shrugging his man aside to drill home past Aaron Ratchford.

The Harrogate keeper deservedly took the home sponsors man-of–the-match as he kept the score line respectable. Fleetwood attacked at will in the opening 25 minutes, Alan Wright forcing the best save when Ratchford tipped over his 30 yard screamer.

Liam Shepherd had two opportunities to put the home side ahead but Danny Hurst took his turn to make a fingertip save. The Harrogate man then found space but his finishing was fired off target.

The game turned in Fleetwood’s favour when Micky Mellon used up his three substitutes. First, Jamie Mullan replaced the hard-working Anthony Barry and Mellon then pulled off his two full-backs.

In a change to 3-4-3, Simon Grand was handed his debut and Seddon pushed up front with Lee Thorpe and Adam Warlow. In almost his first touch, Seddon claimed the points to once again open the leading gap.
