Fleetwood Town once again increased their lead at the top of the Blue Square North with a comfortable victory over in-form Solihull Moors. The five match winning run for the Midlands outfit came to a halt at Highbury after a goalless first half.
Steven Connors almost put the home side ahead after just two minutes but saw his effort across goal inch wide. Town had two penalty claims turned down in the first period. Lee Thorpe, making his Highbury debut, had his unconvincing claim waved away but midfielder Sean Clancy looked to have just cause later in the half. The midfielder was floored in a challenge by Theo Streete, who saw red in when the teams met on the opening day of the season at Damson Park.
Danny Hurst was relatively untroubled in the Fleetwood goal as Moors were restricted from creating any first half chances.
Adam Warlow brought the game to life two minutes after the restart with Thorpe and Jamie Mullan involved in the build-up. Warlow doubled the lead inside five minutes thanks to Sean Clancy’s supply, adding his 20th league goal of the season, although some records would dispute that figure.
Anthony Barry replaced Mullan towards the end of the second half and wasted no time in ensuring the points remained at home. He pounced on the edge of the box, found space to turn and drilled home on 87 minutes.
Mention must go the Daniel Crane who restricted the score line with two top drawer saves for the visitors.
