According to Hitwise, Facebook beat Google for the week ending 13th March – this is the first time Facebook has overtaken Google for a whole week.
Google’s traffic remained relatively stable, whereas Facebook has seen a surge that has pushed it past Google.
At the end of 2009 we predicted that social media would become more important as a medium, if I were Google I’d be looking for more ways in which to get into bed with the likes of Facebook before they find people start using them exclusively as their preferred method of mining the internet for information.
