Sunday 19th August, not a particularly exciting day for most of us, right? Whilst the majority of people were catching up on life’s thrilling tasks, like cleaning the oven or traipsing round endless isles doing the weekly food shop, 2am CEO Pete was free falling from 14,000 feet. Yes, you read that right.
Whilst this isn’t Pete’s standard Sunday activity, the self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie loves nothing more than throwing himself out of a plane and into the clouds (mad, I know!). So when Anthony Whinn, owner of the trendiest hair salon in the North West, AM1, approached him to take part in a charity skydive, Pete was itching to get back into that flight suit once more!
Anthony rounded up a crack team of daredevil thrill seekers to raise money and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support, a cause which he holds close to his heart. Trained in the Macmillan Strength in Style Programme, Anthony makes sure that everyone’s needs a catered for at AM1, including those affected by cancer. He recognises that clients affected by cancer have specific hair care needs beyond the usual salon treatments, which is why he goes the extra mile to really get to know the individual so he can recommend the best approach to their hair care needs, whether that be wig fitting and personalisation, or style advice and cutting.
Over 300,000 people are diagnosed with cancer each year. These people suffer the physical effects of the disease, but thousands more people such as friends and relatives, feel, see and deal with the emotional devastation that cancers brings. Having experienced this first hand, Pete dedicated the dive to his Nana, who lost her battle with cancer in 2010.
At 2am we love doing our bit, and helping out a valued client whilst supporting an amazing cause is what we’re all about. The support will continue in early October as we help Anthony make an impression with his Macmillan Charity Evening, hosted at AM1. Keep your peepers on our blog and the AM1 website for event updates (and for Pete’s next quest for adrenaline!).
